Bhutan’s Media and Communication
Bhutan’s Media and Communication saw its first telephone services in 1963. With satellite station installed in 1990 in Thimphu, the international services were available. At present, internet services, fax and telegraphs connect Bhutan to different parts of the world. Following introduction of mobile phones in the country, there are more than 84 thousand mobile users today.
Kuensel is the first national newspaper in Bhutan that is published in Dzongkha and English. the Bhutan Times, Bhutan Observer and Bhutan Today are the recent private newspapers. There are three radio stations: Bhutan Broadcasting Services, Kuzoo FM and Radio valley. Bhutan Broadcasting Services TV is the only television watched by Bhutanese.
